Radio frequency micro needling: Not just a fad!

radio frequency micro needling

The skin care industry often gets a bad rap for promoting fad treatments, new-age trends, and celebrity-endorsed products, which simply don’t work. With the amount of misinformation being shared online, it’s easy to see why anyone would be skeptical.

Laser technology has been quite effective in treating a number of skin conditions; however, surface laser treatments can often damage the upmost layer of the skin, called the epidermis.

Radio frequency micro needling (RFMN) is a modern skin treatment using scientific methods, which have been tried and tested over the past 70 years. Using microscopic needles to penetrate only a certain depth of the skin, RFMN is far less invasive and offers greater selectivity than other laser skin treatments.

How is RFMN different to other treatments?

Instead of applying heat like other laser treatments, RFMN uses radiofrequency to stimulate the natural regeneration of collagen within the lower layers of the skin.

Because the skin is not exposed to thermal injury, there is almost no risk of complication or extended downtime for treatment.

A number of studies have shown patient satisfaction to be extremely high in comparison to other laser treatments. Many patients noticed results following their first treatment, with continued improvement many months after the final treatment.

How many RFMN treatments are recommended to achieve results?

Generally RFMN is most effective when delivered through a program of five treatments. However, with more serious conditions your doctor may recommend more. With each treatment, you will notice an improvement in the appearance and health of your skin.

Treatment of all areas

One of the most favourable aspect of RFMN treatment is that it can be used on almost all areas of the skin. Unlike other treatments, which can only be applied to specific regions, RFMN can be applied to sensitive areas of the face, neck, arms, hands, and décolletage.
